Jxta（发音为jux-ta）是由Bill Joy（Sun公司首席科学家兼公司执行官）引领开发的P2P计算平台。目前，Jxta由数百名开源开发者共同实现。Jxta工程承载P2P世界的多个期望。它定义了一系列协议，开发者使用这些协议可以开发几乎所有的p2p程序。同时这些协议还可以适应应用程序所特有的需求。Jxta并没有规定所使用的编程语言和使用环境，但是使用Java语言开发P2P程序具有先天的优势，例如：可移植性，开发难度低，具有丰富的类库。

官方提到:

The JXTA "Bisi Bele Baath" release provides a number of important bug
fixes and a few minor enhancements to the JXTA Java platform. This
release is designed to be fully backwards compatible with the APIs of
previous JXTA Java SE 2.x releases and the fully complies with the JXTA
protocols 2.0 as defined by the JXTA specification.
