Compass是一个构建在Lucene之上的Java搜索引擎框架，提供更简单的搜索引擎API，事务支持，对象到搜索引擎映射（Annotations & XML），Xml到搜索引擎映射，和Spring、hibernate、JPA、OJB、Jdbc、JDO无缝集成。
新版本的特性包括:
cache highlighted text fragments in detached hits, the introduction of specialized exception for query parsing failure + nesting of Lucene Exceptions in the Compass Exceptions, support for Spring 2.0 RC1
